Maybe there should be a prerequisite for the newbies that they first check out Knoppix to see how they like it, or if it works with their system. If they have no previous Linux experience (or limited computer knowledge) this would give them an easy way to make sure that it is something that they would like. This might prevent someone from repartitioning and installing something that they decide is not for them, and thus preventing the brlug from having to help them when they blow out the windows partition that they might want back.
