Oh well.....it worked for me. Had to do with using two different computers....thus two different nics and the mac to ip stuff getting confused in my cable modem. Do you have a test computer with an alternate OS installed (be it MS Whatever or another Distribution) that you can hook up and see if it is able to contact the DHCP server? If you have written down the last ip info that the DHCP server provided you then you might want to try statically assigning it just to see if you can communicate before continuing to troubleshoot the issue.
