I have enjoyed seeing when, where, and how they diverged from the book as much trying to figure out why. In general they made Middle Earth much smaller. This keeps the time spent traveling to a minimum. I would rather they left Bombadil in, but the whole Old Forrest, Barrow Downs, Goldberry thing would almost have been another movie. Substituting Arwen for Glorfindel at the fords of Rivendell was OK because he had actually been killed in the first battle for the ring, but J.R.R. had forgotten that. Changing the Entmoot bother me at first, but I am not sure how else they could have shortened that section, and what they cut did not detract from the story as a whole, it just left the Ents more mysterious. I was mostly pleased with Helms deep, but I bet they will get letters about the Dwarf tossing. At first I thought that they should have left Faramir as depicted in the book, and not forced him to go to Minas Ithil. Then I thought about it, and noted the speech Samwise made to Frodo. That was from the Orc Tower in the Return of the King. They are going to foreshorten all of the Minas Morgal scenes and probably the capture of Frodo. I am very interested in what happens with Shelob, but I am guessing they pretty much escape her. The part about them forcing her off and then her attacking again from above lends nothing to the story except suspense. So when the movie ended without Frodo being bitten by Shelob, there was no place for Frodo and Sam to have that I cant go on Sam, but we have to Mr. Frodo speech at the start of the next movie. They eliminated all of that section, so they forced Frodo to stay captured and had the speech, then sent him on again. Very crafty. So far I have been very impressed with their efforts. Even when they screw up, it is minor, or for a reason you can fathom. John Hebert <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Didja catch the inside joke that Sam Gamgee said when they were in that place?
