what distro? my Mandrake 8.2 box uses devfs, out the box... not sure what
other distro's do. Redhat doesn't i know...

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ray]$ cat /etc/mandrake-release
Mandrake Linux release 8.2 (Bluebird) for i586
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ray]$ mount
/dev/sda1 on / type ext3 (rw)
none on /proc type proc (rw)
none on /dev type devfs (rw)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,mode=0620)
none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
/dev/sda6 on /home type ext3 (rw)
/dev/hda8 on /usr2 type reiserfs (rw)
none on /proc/bus/usb type usbdevfs (rw,devmode=0664,devgid=43)
none on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw)

I've never had any problems with devfs on mandrake....but i don't have any
joysticks (my boss might question that, haha...)
