Hello Steven,

Took a look at the site and the computer looks attractive to me.

For college you would want what is generally called a "desktop replacement" as
a computer, one that has most of the capability of a desktop computer. Other
considerations may affect choice. For instance, my eyes are not good at fine
print and I like lots of information in view, so I would insist on at least
a 15" monitor
on a laptop. Have a 17" desktop monitor. My fingers are like sausages, so I
need a full size keyboard. Penmanship was a disaster area for me, but I
learned
to be a fair touch typist in grade school, so the full size keyboard would mean
much to me. Your needs may differ.

At $800 you are looking, probably, at a refurb. I got a refurbished laptop
for my
wife about three years ago, and it is giving good service. However refurb
warranties
are brief, so if you get one, be sure to check it out thoroughly as soon as
you get
it, so if there is a problem, you are still in warranty.

There are hardware and software warranties. I've seen complaints in computer
magazines about very short software warranties from major manufacturers, even
though the hardware is in warranty for a year or two. So you would be prudent
to check out any bundled programs quickly, too. Generally hardware either
works or doesn't so a few hours of use spread over a day or two should show up
99% of likely new computer hardware problems.

Choppy
