I think Dell is a good choice.  I personally use them exclusively at 
LIGO, unless someone specifically specifies that they wnt something 
else.  They have also been very easy to get Linux installed, with the 
exception of Redhat 7.2 on the Inspiron 5000e, though it looks like that 
problem was fixed with 8.
