This tour is organized by the Baton Rouge Technology Council
(http://www.brtc.org) and costs $10 for non-members to cover cost of food.

I plan to go to this as it will probably cover some neat technology used by
the LOEP (http://www.loep.state.la.us).

Subject: You'll rest better after this ...

Ever wonder where the Governor would hang out if a Category 5 hurricane
was headed our way? Curious about who could coordiate on short notice a
red beans and rice dinner party for thousands of people, compliments of
Angola Prison, the Baptist Men's Association, and the Louisiana
Superdome? Do you know which state is considered the national leader
for state and county level emergency preparedness and is even a stop
over for foreign countries who are working on their own emergency plans?

If these kinds of questions keep you up at night, then the next Tech
Tuesday will put you to rest in more ways than one! The Louisiana Office
of Emergency Preparedness is not only up and running 24 x 7, but will
open its doors to Baton Rouge Technology Council members and visitors
for BRTC's upcoming Tech Tuesday, October 14th, 5;30pm - 7:30pm.

This way cool facility is located in the middle of Baton Rouge (another
one of those hidden technology jewels!), just off Independence Park
(between Lobdell and Woodale) in the new complex that includes offices
for the DOTD businesses and finance and the State Police Training
Facility. Learn more at www.loep.state.la.us.

In anticipation of an extensive tour of LOEP, we'll pre-fuel from 5:30pm
- 6:15pm, compliments of i-Notification who will be hosting a wonderful
reception in the LOEP kitchen. At that time, we'll hear briefly how
i-Notification contributes to our community's solutions for emergency
preparedness and response.

At 6:15 we'll hear from Colonel Jay Mayeaux, Division Chief, Operations
and Homeland Security. Colonel Mayeaux will explain how the LOEP fits
into the big picture, acting as a linch pin between federal efforts and
parish activities. After that, Matt Farlow, Division Cheif for the
Operations and Communications Division, will host a tour of LOEP. Matt
is responsible for all the operations of Louisiana's much-bragged-about
Emergency Operations Center, including the information systems used to
support the agency and all the statewide communications.

Please let others know about this fun and informative grown up field
trip. And RSVP your intentions to attend by reply to this email or by
calling 225.612.2137. The cost to attend is $5 for BRTC members and $10
for visitors. See you next Tuesday! meb
