Thought some might find this interesting. I went to the SCISS last year at
UNT. It is really a great program. One of the most well organized I have
ever been to and the people are just as nice as can be. The main focus is
Undergrads and Grads, however, I'm sure anyone can ask to be a guest. There
wasn't a registration fee last year.

Dear SCISS '03 attendee:

Thank you for your participation in last year's South Central
Information Security Symposium. Due to the success of last year's
event, we will be holding a second SCISS, this time hosted on the Rice
University campus in Houston.

I've attached the announcement below, and if you have research that is
related to our symposium topics of interest, please consider sending
in an abstract.

The symposium web site is http://cops.csci.unt.edu/sciss04, and while
information is a little scant now, we are updating it almost daily.
Submission instructions will be posted in the next few days, and local
information will be posted soon afterwards.

Thanks, and I hope to see you at SCISS '04!

==========

2004 South Central Information Security Symposium (SCISS '04)
   Announcement and Call for Papers

The 2004 South Central Information Security Symposium (SCISS '04) is
designed to bring together people from Texas, Oklahoma, and
surrounding areas who are performing original research in the areas of
computer and information security. The symposium will be scheduled
with ample opportunity for meeting and mingling, and it is hoped that
the symposium will spur research collaboration in the region. The
symposium will be held April 24, 2004 at Rice University, in Houston,
Texas.

Submissions of one-page abstracts are encouraged from people in this
area. Abstracts may present either research results or more
speculative and incomplete ideas. The program committee will select
abstracts for either 25 minute presentations or 5 minute "Work in
Progress" talks. Attendees will receive copies of abstracts at the
symposium, which will also be published on the web, but the
publication of only abstracts is meant to leave open the possibility
of publishing full results at a conference of wider national or
international scope.

Topics of Interest: The topics listed below are representative of the
areas of interest in this symposium. The list is not meant to be
exhaustive, and other related, relevant topics will be considered.
Approaches may be theoretical or applied, but work should make an
original contribution to the existing body of knowledge.

        Authentication Network Security
        Access Control Denial of Service
        Privacy and Anonymity Security Protocols
        Cryptography and Applications Digital Forensics
        Intrusion Detection Security Verification
        Data Integrity Distributed Systems Security
Mobile Code and Agent Security Viruses and Malicious Code
        Database Security

Submissions: Authors should submit papers through the conference web
site (see "More Information" below). While one page abstracts are
required, authors may additionally submit more detailed papers that
give more information, which may be reviewed by the program committee
at their discretion.

Dates:
Abstract submission deadline: March 24, 2004
Notification of acceptance: April 9, 2004
Final versions of accepted abstracts due: April 16, 2004
