I recall that recently someone on the list was looking for a native Linux CAD
package. I found this list ( http://www.tech-edv.co.at/lunix/CADlinks.html )
that may be beneficial. Being in the engineering business, I would be
interested in hearing about anyone's past or future experiences with any of
these programs. I did notice that 1) there are a LOT of projects out there, and
2) quite a number of them are in the "planning" stage which indicates an area
of high interest and high activity in the Linux community. If an application
comparable to AutoCad and MicroStation were to come upon the Linux scene, a
HUGE market for "Linux on the desktop" would open up. We are an engineering
firm of approximately 500 employees of which probably 80% have one of the above
CAD packages on their desktop at probably somewhere between $1,500 and $3,000
per seat.
