I downloaded and looked at pythoncad and qcad for Mepis to have a look. Qcad, which worked great on Woody, seems to have path and library problems with Mepis. It drew in strange fonts and I could not figure out how to change them, though they were in the correct font directory. The templates and libraries were excellent and nicely put into a directory structure, electric, hydraulic, mechanical, and so on.
Pythoncad looks interesting but lacks Qcad's polish. Of particular interest to me is a polyline. Chances are that just about any shape can be made paremetrically by script. The menus were sparse.
