Vonage recommends you put the ATA (their adapter) between the cable modem and your firewall/router, rather than putting it behind the router. That way the ATA can handle Quality of Service for your voice traffic. If you have a reasonably advanced firewall/router and the requisite skills you can configure your own rules and traffic shaping priority for SIP (voice) traffic. Google for something like "SIP Vonage iptables" to find rulesets and tutorials for Linux-based firewalls. I am looking at getting Vonage soon myself and will probably set it up with traffic shaping behind my OpenBSD+pf firewall (I'm already doing some shaping to get more optimal upstream usage out of m asynchronous connection as detailed here http://www.benzedrine.cx/ackpri.html ) > Thanks, > > Nash > > > _______________________________________________ > General mailing list > [email protected] > http://brlug.net/mailman/listinfo/general_brlug.net > -- Scott Harney <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> "Asking the wrong questions is the leading cause of wrong answers" gpg key fingerprint=7125 0BD3 8EC4 08D7 321D CEE9 F024 7DA6 0BC7 94E5
