The K12LTSP distro is a custom distro based on fedora that is already
preconfigured with ltsp packages, as well as packages for children.
There is almost no need to reinvent the wheel here. It is simple to
setup. You do need some serious horsepower for the server, but the
clients can be minimal. It also has squidguard built in if you need a
free content filter for these schools.

If you want you can see here where I have talked about my k12ltsp
setup in the past.

Getting the computers to boot is easy. There is a universal etherboot
disk that you just pop in the floppy drive and it will boot over the
network if your card is compatable.

Either that or you go to http://rom-o-matic.net/5.3.7/ and get a boot
image for your network card there that you can put on a floppy.

If you need you can give me a call at the work and we can talk more about it.
