As I mentioned earlier, LSU had a meeting like that for incoming graduate 
students and it bothered me.  They want to turn the University into a patent 
farm.  That would be all fine and good except they think they own all your 
ideas like any company would and the patent system in general is out of 
control.  The implication, that you should be so grateful for your education 
that the state owns what you do with it, is disturbing.  One presenter 
actually said, "We own you."  Software was not specifically mentioned, but 
ownership of anything but poetry was claimed for all students and staff.  

Let me know if they have similar ideas for undergraduates at ULL.
