Although I shouldn't, I have to speak up. Exactly what is the charter of a Land Grand University? Ehh? Speak up! It is not exactly hard to find. Read this link: http://www.lsuagcenter.com/nav/about.asp The goal is to discover and bring to the people the knowledge and science that will help ALL of our people.
The VAST majority of our funding comes from other than Louisiana sources. How then can we share the fruits of all of our labors to produce a LAND GRANT UNIVERSITY and provide support to the people and still provide an ego teat to the self-centered? Name a tree after them, and shoulder them aside so the people that are not about ego can get on with the business of the charter. I have always been impressed that the ones deserving of praise never asked for it. If you have to ask for recognition, one of two things is true: 1. You work in a failure of an institution, or 2. you are not as good as you think you are. Oddly enough, from the individual's point of view, the solution is the same, move on. Your absence and that of those of a like mind will force an improvement, or the removal of malcontents will contribute to the greater good. Win-win. Then shut up. Intellectual Property. It is an interesting concept. I have a few concepts in play myself. Bubba, No On Owns Me. I've killed better men than you simply because they had the sad misfortune to peek over the edge of a ditch a second after I did. I happened to be somewhere I did not want to be, not because I was missused, but because I signed and swore to a contract. I did my part, I got my GI bill, I got my GI Home Loan. I would have been there all the same without the GI Bill. IRAN took our hostages and I just wanted a piece of the action. 14 years later, I was a single dad and was forced out. Now, let's review. You were offered a position. You read the contract about intelectual property and signed it. Does this sum it up? Name the people that held the weapons over you when you signed that contract, and you can break it. Oh, gee, you were eager to get the position and the dollars? Then quit, or quit complaining. If you think LSU is hard, go commercial. If you have a frigging dream on vacation two years after you work for DSM or Albermarl they own it. I think they own your kid's dreams too. My dad has 14 patents. Those and $4.99 can buy him a number two at Mac Burger. The LSU deal, considering they pay the lawyers, pay the patnet fees, defend the patents, encourage investors, provide moneys and space for start-ups, and offer the umbrella of the LSU icon and sill give you over 10% is a fantastic deal. If you think otherwise you are very fortunate to be so sadly used. You should pick up your marbles and go home. If you hae a degree can't you read? Damn I hate whinners. --- Will Hill <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > As I mentioned earlier, LSU had a meeting like that > for incoming graduate > students and it bothered me.
