I don't have any arguments with CS being more "alive".  My initial
problem with it was threefold:

1) Game was too slow-paced
2) You die, you're out until the round ends
3) the sheer amount of cheaters initially that seemed to pervade the community

I find Quake 3 OSP CTF to provide all of the teamplay I need along
with the fast arcade-style action and instant respawning I love.  I've
loved that mod for around 5 years now, but haven't really played it
since I got married in 2002.  Not to mention it has run on Linux since
2002 as well :)
