I concur. People aren't going to read all that text. You're lucky if they look at the slide for more than 10 seconds.
Have you gone through all the slides and picked out the most important ones to concentrate on? An hour for 28 slides is not a lot of time...2 min/slide. Especially if they ask questions, which you should encourage. You'll know they're interested if they ask questions. Also as Dustin said, the slides should be short, bulleted and to the point. This is good for the live presentations, but not quite as useful without the author's commentary.
