Just like you I have always been a KDE user. But after I have tried Ubuntu, I really like it. It is very uncluttered and polished. You may want to give it a try.
If you want to use KDE with Ubuntu you may want to consider SimplyMEPIS-- this distro is now based on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS (instead of Debian Sarge) but with KDE. It seems better than Kubuntu. You can read a review at http://www.desktoplinux.com/articles/AT6993936615.html And the MEPIS web site is http://www.mepis.org/ --Nash -----Original Message----- From: General-bounces at brlug.net [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of -ray Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2006 7:26 PM To: general at brlug.net Subject: [brlug-general] Desktop Linux List has been kinda quiet lately, so here ya go... In the past 7 years, I've used various distros on my workstation at the office. Been running Debian sid for a few years and think it's time for a change. Heard good things about Ubuntu, but i like KDE. Anyone running Kubuntu? They seem to stay current with ubuntu, i just wonder why there's another distrib instead of just KDE packages for ubuntu? What else do ya'll run on the desktop? Debian unstable has a few small annoying problems that i could probably fix, but i dont have the time to fix it nor do i think i should have to. It's to be expected with the unstable branch, so I guess i'm looking for something a little more polished. Suggestions? ray -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ray DeJean http://www.r-a-y.org Systems Engineer Southeastern Louisiana University IBM Certified Specialist AIX Administration, AIX Support =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= _______________________________________________ General mailing list General at brlug.net http://brlug.net/mailman/listinfo/general_brlug.net
