I also agree that a project should be considered only on its merits (or lack of the same). The *is-there-some-synergy-between-x-y-and-z* concern would (and should) follow later.

I don't believe that the presence of Derby (or Axion) should adversely affect the evaluation of Daffodil. We (the ASF *and* Daffodil) should consider how Daffodil/Derby/Axion might inter-relate, but a Daffodil proposal should primarily be considered on its own merits.
