Nagaraj You certainly can have more than one application server associated with a content database - indeed you can have any number.
Your database configuration should be a function of what you are looking to do with the data - e.g. your search related config ( case sensitive / stemmed ) or indeed anything in the database configuration page, so's adding an application server does not automatically mean you have to change the dataset configuration. For something like ODBC it probably does however, as use of this server type implies you will need range indexes specific to your data, found under database configuration. A good way of thinking about application servers is that they = Protocol ( http / xdbc / webdav / odbc ) + content database + modules database ( code ).
