Find Lost and Found!

Thanks Greg - I tried but it didn't seem to be working. I looked
in regedit but found nothing relevant there. Then I had a
brainwave, looked in ~user/configqt and found a J file
called winpos.dat.

This looked very fishy:
Fiw=-22947 378 65517 122
   compared to
Fif=55 108 960 529
!

So I changed the Fiw values to something more sensible,
and my missing Find window reappeared.

This suggests a question - can one configure maximum
(and minimum) allowed values for these parameters?
Presumably the error was inadvertently caused by a
huge search term going in the "search for" field.

Like most MS Windows the find window is affected by the "move" command. In
particular the Win-Arrow keys move it half a screen. Or one can invoke that menu by
Alt-Space and them M, after which the arrow keys move it a pixel. It likely is off
screen, so one can blindly move it till it appears.

subject: [Jgeneral] Lost "find" window

Running JQT under Windows 8 - details below.

As of yesterday, I think, edit/find or ctrl-f results in new but
inaccessible windows. Using alt-tab, I can see their
icons/thumbnails displayed along with those of all active
windows, but selecting one with alt-tab navigates to another
active window, not necessarily relevant to J, and certainly
not the required edit dialog box. Each edit/find or ctrl-f
results in a new such inaccessible and thereby unusable
window.

I'm not aware of having changed my J-environment recently,
except that I restarted my laptop for a Windows 8/Microsoft
update a few days ago and again this afternoon. This new
behaviour started after the latest previous windows update
but before today's most recent update; the update hasn't
changed it.

I have just now done a jqt update hoping the problem would
go away, but no luck.

Library: 8.02.12
Qt IDE: 1.1.5/5.3.1
Platform: Win 64

InstallPath: c:/d/j802

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike
