You could install CGI::IRC  or PJIRC and go through those.

But EFNet is often harder to connect to than Freenode. THey have old
DNS blacklists. they sometimes have CAPTCHA. I dont like EFnet.

It keeps saying Not connected, Connection time out, etc.
Most probably it cannot work through firewall.
It's just too elaborate.

I believe it should be a web-based chat, which does
not have a firewall problem; but has other features,
like keeping a log.

In general, it's a great idea. I just think we need
possibly a more user- and network- friendly medium.
