With the cooperation of my son Al McDonnell, who has a complete sound studio in Juneau, Alaska, I now have on a CD Michael Montalbano's enchanting

"APL Blossom Time; dedicated to the pioneers of APL, with respect and affection; by J. C. L. Guest" on a CD.

It has a wonderful caricature of Mike drawn by my son Pete McDonnell. Pete shows Mike on a stage, dressed in Elizabethan garb, with ruffed collar, holding a scroll reading "A Train in Spain Leaves Stains upon the Plains" (shades of Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady")

Al is a licensed fisherman, with his own boat, and is also is a left- handed string musician.

There are two versions on the CD.

The performers on the first are: vocal: J. Brown, M. Wheatley; guitar J. Brown, J. Bunda; bass J. Brown, drum B. Duff.

The second was recorded at APL81. Those on this version are: L. Breed, J. Brown, J. Bunda, D. Dloughy, A. O'Hara, R. Skinner.

The copyright to the caricature is given to Pete, by APL Press, 1987.

I'm proud of my other children: Julia Powers, a licensed landscape contractor, in Santa Clara, CA; Luke, a cartoonist, in Peekskill, NY, and Jim, a senior executive at Cisco Systems, in Pleasanton, CA.

Don't get me started on my five grandchildren.
