Wow! Funnily enough I don't think I've ever tried the tree display option.
I usually use a combination of linear and box, but as you say, tree does a 
better job of distinguishing the forks from the `verb adverb` and `verb conj 
verb` combinations. I'm inclined to go with the idea I mentioned in my reply to 
Raul, - link to a new page that describes the different displays (including the 
one that was recently developed on the forum).
