Comment would be appreciated. It seems to me that what I need in order
to do what I want is not a special fork, but the ability to insert J
sentences
into tacit programming. If you can put tacit programming into J sentences,
why not the other way round? Again, please bear in mind that because you may
not need it, that doesn't mean that others can't make use of it.

What I am looking for is very different from what everyone else on this
forum wants to use. I want to be able to translate mathematical formulae
into J in such a way that it is easy to see the parallel between the
Mathematics and the J. I want to do this because I want J to be used as an
experiential aid in the teaching of Mathematics. Your use of J is very
powerful, but it won't mean much to an elementary
school student, a high school student or a post secondary Geography major. I
am going to keep on bumbling around until I get there.

The J language has pretty much cleaned up the keyboard for symbols. That
means that the brackets around the J sentence enclosed in the tacit
programming will have to enclosed between something like "F." and "F:". That
is ugly, but since I am thinking of using it in a situation in which I am
translating two character primitives, I have used a distinctive pair of
brackets from another scrip (Snap ITC). That can be changed. I just wanted
something distinctive. I have used it in an example that attempts to
parallel the usual mathematical formula for a standard deviation.
        thanks,

            Don
