I imagine J would be well suited to this kind of work.  

If you give an example of the kind of analysis & plotting you do, along with 
some inputs and outputs, we might be able to give you
a flavor of how you'd acheive it in J.

Yes, "J" is very hard to search for.  In compensation, I often combine it with 
a related word from our domain, e.g.  [J
programming] or [J APL].

I just googled xyzzy -- there are over a million results :)  It's a magic word 
in an early video game.  For some reason, I already
knew that.
