I agree that j701 jconsole seems to function in the same way as j602 jconsole
when it displays the box drawing characters. I did not test the various
combinations of copy and paste and assignment completely enough when I
mentioned
that I thought j701 jconsole worked differently than j602 jconsole.

I looked at the clipboard contents after copying the displayed results of
9!:6''
from a J602-32 IJX window to the clipboard. These were the clipboard entry
types after the copy:

CF_UNICODETEXT
CF_LOCALE
CF_TEXT
CF_OEMTEXT

CF_LOCALE was 0x0409 United States (US) 0x01 SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US

CF_TEXT appeared to be 11 garbage characters:

43 45 43 43 43 166 43 45 43 166 45{a.

CF_UNICODE was one version of the unicode representation of the 11 box drawing
characters in wchar format:

12 37 44 37 16 37 28 37 60 37 36 37 20 37 52 37 24 37 2 37 0 37 0 0 0 0{a.

CF_OEMTEXT was 218 194 191 195 197 180 192 193 217 179 196{a.

I tried pasting into WordPad and saw the box drawing characters. I copied them
from WordPad and the content of the clipboard was very similar to what I saw
with the J copy. The only difference was that the content of CF_TEXT was 11
'?'
characters.
