OK, I've created new 64- and 32-bit installers that:
  * should remove the ~install folder including any additional files
installed manually post installation.
  * Have a few more items in Launch Pad (including the Plot demo)

I've left the OpenGL demo ( load 'demos/opengl/demo/run' ) out of the
Launch Pad at the moment because it doesn't seem to work correctly ...
is that expected? Is it working for others?
