which is just to use 
        ex:content 
instead of 
        ex:href-content 
(which is what I had).

Indeed, that got rid of the problem of the word "and" being a bad link,
but now the links themselves are breaking. Properties that are not under
".related" for a particular label are showing up, and the word "and" is
showing up unpredictably.

I modified the code as you suggested in the tabular view but not in tile
view.
Select the facets type:period, importance:2, and Period:Biblical, and flip
back and forth between tabular and tile and you'll see that tabular
doesn't have "and" as a bad link, but it has all kinds of incorrect links.
The correct links are in tile-view.
