WRT? WAN is what, Web Area Network?

On extremely busy sites, yes I'd agree. But surely compared to the
internet's potential transmission speeds in general it can't be that slow.
I mean people use ISDN, DSL, cable modems, etc. for much faster connections
still, which wouldn't be of use if the internet couldn't transmit any
faster than the rates we've been talking about.
