Looking at ensembldb.ensembl.org:5306 and there on
ensembl_compara_56.genome_db it seems that the genebuild of Rattus
norvegicus is from March 2009. I am not an expert on the ensembl
database and you might double-check this with the helpdesk but I guess
you don't really need to update the gene models with each new version
but only when new genebuilds are run by them.
