Hi John,

I'm affraid portage uses python 2.x features here while Panther only
comes with python 2.((x-1)).  For the moment I don't have a clue what
the right actions would be.  Perhaps bootstrapping python first, but in
that case you'll want to bootstrap in a temporary location for sure...
