Thx for the reply Grobian-had talked to you on #freenode about some of this. Is there a chance that this situation will improve with time-or is upgrading to 10.4 a better option?
And as far as bootstrapping in a temporary loc-does that just mean using a directory other than /home or / ? Thanks
