The thing is that valgrind uses all kinds of tricks with the loader so that parts actually run on the processor. In this sense valgrind is not a pure emulator. Rather it "augments" code to have it run by the processor. This makes things run a lot faster, but also means that it's not so easy to run in a different environment.
