Thank you. So I was taking a look at the baselayout svn and it's everywhere (it implies CDBOOT). I wanted to make a liveusb that was writable (specially to use portage) and still have it behave like a livecd in some ways. I can try making the changes to separate cdroot in like two options livemedia & rootreadwrite for instance, in all the required places (I guess genkernel, livecdfunctions, baselayout and catalyst).
