Another one is pcmcia-cs for anyone with a laptop. As of a few days ago, anyway, it still didn't build quite right (certainly not without a fight) - and that is a pretty major piece of supporting software. I know we all love to be on the edge with the latest and greatest, and without a doubt there is some great stuff in 2.6 for all of us (ACPI on my laptop finally works! Yeay!) But as Markus said, there is an infrastructure around the kernel as well. Hell, I didn't use 2.0 until 2.0.36, 2.2 until 2.2.14, nor 2.4 until 2.4.18. After all - if there's one thing on a system you DO want to be stable, it's the kernel. I concur with others, though - early signs for 2.6's stability are very promising.
