Unfortunately the "I did not hear any person have problems" or "me and my
friends have used successfully for a longer time" is not enough. We cannot
trust on the stability of 2.6 really well until it has been out for about 2
months. (This is the same way Linus & co look at it).

Who just started testing. Many bugs are subtle and turn up only in rare cases.

I believe that you have a misconception about vanilla and gentoo sources.
Gentoo sources is an enhanced kernel version that aims to provide more
features and higher performance than the vanilla sources. One could say that
vanilla sources is more conservative. It is however not at all true that
vanilla sources is on a lower stability level than gentoo sources.
