I have compared vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz from gsx-3.1.0-build9089 and ws-4.5.2-build8848. The filelist in both files is identical. The archive has some binaries en text files that are different. The only difference in the text files is the identifier (textstring with parent-version). I don't know the exact difference in the binaries. I have installed both files in both environments and couldn't detect any differences during installation (besides different identifier). I also couldn't detect any differences in run time. It seems like VMware haven't maintained the vmware-linux-tools for some time, because the precompiled modules are only for old versions of the supported distributions. -- [email protected] mailing list
