Hi folks,

again I am pointing at the test-isos and now especially at release candidate #1
for
the x86 install-cd. It will hit the mirrors soon.

Notes:
- yes, we know that the bootsplash is outdated - a new one is in the making.
- yes, we know that evms2 has some problems - we are working on it.

The metabug for pre-livecds is bug #7781. Please leave bugreports there and
DON'T create new bugs.

I just downloaded the x86 collection from "experimental". Questions:

1. What needs testing? ... I have a P3, Athlon XP, Athlon Tbird and an ancient Toshiba laptop P2-flavored Celeron available. The Toshiba has a non-working CD drive, so I partition it and load a base Debian "woody" on it with boot floppies and a PCMCIA NIC, then do the rest of the Gentoo install by downloading stuff and a chroot at the appropriate spot.

2. Are there any more recent stages than 20050110? Stages other than x86?

In the absence of input, I'm going to do a stage3 x86 build in VMWare on the XP, then see if I can get Enlightenment, vim, XCdroast and K3B to work. I don't have the patience to compile KDE at the moment. I've had lots of problems with CD burning recently; I ended up dropping back to 2.4.(25-r15) on one of my machines as a result. That's the critical path for me at the moment -- burning CDs has to "just work".
