My thinking along this line was for the case of external
entities with a vested interest in Gentoo's success. My
thoughts on the matter were that there should be a
non-voting category for members of the board.

Such Associate-Members (aka Associate-Directors, aka
Associate-Trustee) would have all rights of a Trustee
minus the ability to vote on any motions. They could
move and argue points, but not affect quarum or voting.

This would allow us to provide a business utilizing
Gentoo for their public product and/or private affairs
to have a bit more hand and knowledge in the activities
of Gentoo. It provides a more intimate relationship
between external entities and the Foundation while
maintaining control of the Foundation within actual
developers.
