I like the --news idea and brilliant is a good way to describe it. That would also be so cool. If you are not syncing you don't need to change anything but if you are, you get to see what changes are made. That would be good since some changes, like devfs to udev, are really good but do require some input on the user end. That is one reason I subscribed here.
