Does the user with id 1001 have sufficient permissions to create a new directory in /var/mail/vhosts/somedom.com/sales/? Perhaps you need to setup virtual_uid and virtual_gid maps to allow postfix to take on the correct uid/gid, or perhaps chown the mail store if you want to use the static uid/gid?
