Shortly after Mozilla 1.0 was released I decided to go for the next beta. Downloaded and compiled just fine. Of course as I went to install the knew Mozilla, it complained that there was an older version and prompted to remove it or choose another directory to install. I hate to let any installer delete anything from this system therefore I got out of the install so that I can remove the old Moz manually. As a rule I use command line to admin just about everything there is except that once. Since I was already in KDE I figured wht the heck, opened the file manager and clicked on /usr of course lib would have been next, but I received a phone call thus disrupting my work (and thoughts). returning to the task unfinished, for some reason I right clicked on lib and hit the delete key and on OK, major oops! My reprieve, I had just done a complete backup of the system and was able to redo /usr/lib. This was the first time I'd backed up a complete system and now is a standard procedure here. The only reason I had backed everything up was to evaluate some backup software for my boss. I love those backups:)
