This is all fine and good for small packages that seldom need multiple versions, but it doesn't work for something like kde/qt/. Gentoo creates /usr/kde and /usr/qt to allow for multiple versions, and this is an absolute no-no according to the LSB. There's no good reason for this to be a no-no (IMO), but that's the way it is.
