I did the same.
And, SCSI and SCSI CD-ROM support are compiled-in in my kernel, also ide-scsi; I shouldn't need to load any modules.
E.g., the ck4-Kernel gives me:
ide_setup: hdc=scsi ide_setup: hdd=scsi
in dmesg; the Gentoo kernel does nothing like that. I have not the slightest idea what I can do now...
