Did you honestly just say that? I'm still in shock. > Or, what if Gentoo fully supports Digital Rights Management and is helping > to fund research into locking everyone's hardware down so you could only > transfer "approved" data with an RIAA-approved digital signature attached > (for which you paid money), and could no longer freely exchange files? You are aware Linus Torvalds (a coder to you, a god to many) has already publicly said that Linux will be in full compliance with DMCA and DRM laws to come, correct? Linux's purpose - as I understand it - is to provide a free and working alternative to the proprietary software solutions. If Linux doesn't comply with DRM standards, it isn't a viable alternative, now is it? > Or, let's say you're libertarian-biased in your political views and Gentoo > was actively contributing to the campaigns of reactionary conservatives > seeking to mandate bible study in schools, tear down just about every civil > right in the country, make the teaching of evolution a federal felony, > etc.? Just so you know, libertarians are usually political righties - not to be confused with liberals who are lefties. > You'd just go right on donating? Because they write good software? I still don't understand what you said but I have a pretty good idea I wouldn't like the gist of it anyways. -- Zack Gilburd http://tehunlose.com GnuPG Key ID: A79A45668240AB6C
