Every now and then life interferes with my computing.  It did 
so again this week, so I was delayed in getting back to you 
all.

Ah!  Changing this to a valid FQDN changed the problem to it 
wanting to send mail to whatever machine I listed.  I get the 
same error message, though, for that machine if it does not 
have a MTA running.

Well, I didn't *think* I was running any of them.  Based on 
the ps -ef I ran there were no processes that grep could find 
a match to "ssmtp", "mtp", "mail" or "smtp".  However, a look 
at the emerge log showed that I had added ssmtp.  So I 
unmerged it and the problem went away.

Just for information sake, does anyone know what I'd look for 
in a 'ps -ef' output that would show the MTA?
