thanks for taking the time. I know this is probably a stupid question and maybe I'm just missing something really obvious, but how can I determin what device under /dev/ is my sound card using. I'm using the sound chip (Intel8x0) built into the Asus A7N8x motherboard, and I followed the instructions in the alsa guide on the gentoo site. my sound works fine from noatun, aplay, etc.. However I'm setting up Mythtv and I need to specify the device. Everyone on the mailing lists seems to have a device /dev/dsp, I don't. Many app (xawtv, Mythtv) look at /dev/dsp by default for sound.
Do I have to create /dev/dsp? do I need to add an option to modules.conf (via /etc/module.autoload.d/alsa, modules-update)? I install alsa-oss if it maters. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
