under /dev/sound/ all I have is
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 0 Dec 31 1969 mixer

under /dev/snd/
crw------- 1 arlo audio 116, 0 Dec 31 1969 controlC0
crw------- 1 arlo audio 116, 24 Dec 31 1969 pcmC0D0c
crw------- 1 arlo audio 116, 16 Dec 31 1969 pcmC0D0p
crw------- 1 arlo audio 116, 33 Dec 31 1969 timer

once again sound works fine I just can't find the device.
I have no devices under /dev that contain the letters dsp in that order.

I am using alsa. does alsa not use a /dev/ device?

thanks--
