smoother, more reliable (less crashes) and just plain "nicer". Last bin I used was 1.01 something which used to be very flaky in binary mode for me. Does "seem" faster, despite the flags filter. Not definitive, I know, but I "believe" I am better off with it compiled.
currently at 1.0.3 waiting for RC5 or 1.1 to get into portage.
