Hmmm. 48 places to get the same file (in the example)! I hope there is a way to figger out where the 'one' best place is for NW Washington.
The default. All the mirrors reflect Gentoo's main host at Iblidoo.org (or something) at, I think, the University of Washington. I think I got my big list of mirrors from emergeing `mirrorselect` - I choose to check all the European mirrors first. It occurred to me it would be cutest if a `mirrorselect` app asked you your location (or guessed it from your locale files) & set 10 mirrors based on their geographical proximity, but I'm not competent enough to implement this in a day.
